Course Description: This course introduces students in grades 6 to 8 to the exciting world of drones, focusing on the principles of flight, drone technology, safety guidelines, and practical applications. Through hands-on activities, simulations, and projects, students will learn how to operate drones safely and responsibly, explore the various components of drones, and understand the basics of aerial photography and videography.

Study Plan:

Day 1: Introduction to Drones

• Overview of drones and their increasing popularity
• History and evolution of drone technology
• Discussion on the different types of drones and their uses in various industries

Day 2: Principles of Flight

• Basics of aerodynamics: lift, thrust, drag, and weight
• Understanding how drones fly: rotorcraft, fixed-wing, and hybrid designs
• Hands-on activities exploring the principles of flight through simulations or simple experiments

Day 3: Drone Components and Technology

• Introduction to the main components of a drone: frame, motors, propellers, flight controller, sensors, and batteries
• Basics of drone hardware and software
• Hands-on activities assembling and disassembling drones, understanding their components

Day 4: Drone Operation and Safety

• Introduction to drone regulations and safety guidelines
• Understanding flight controls: yaw, pitch, roll, throttle
• Hands-on activities practicing drone piloting skills in a controlled environment, emphasizing safety precautions

Day 5: Aerial Photography and Videography

• Introduction to aerial photography and videography techniques
• Basics of camera settings, framing, and composition
• Hands-on activities capturing photos and videos using drones, editing and sharing the footage

Day 6: Final Drone Projects

• Students work on a final drone project applying concepts learned throughout the course
• Projects could include planning and executing a drone mission (e.g., mapping a terrain, conducting a search-and-rescue operation), creating a drone-based art installation, or developing a drone application for a specific purpose
• Presentation of final projects to the class
